Who we are

Fairy Godmother of Ottawa is a non-profit organization dedicated to making prom night magical for all area teens.

We collect new and almost‐new formal dresses, shoes and accessories, and provide them free of charge to Ottawa-area high school students who are unable to purchase their own prom attire.

We distribute the dresses and accessories at our pop‐up prom shop. Each student is assisted by a volunteer personal shopper—her very own Fairy Godmother—to select the dress of her dreams from our inventory of 2000+ dresses.

To date we have dressed more than 1800 Ottawa area girls for their high school prom.

Our goal is to have a positive influence on our students by helping them to look and feel beautiful as they celebrate their accomplishments alongside their peers on prom night.

Who needs a Fairy Godmother?

Graduating high school students who are unable to purchase their own prom attire are welcome to make an appointment to visit the Fairy Godmother Pop‐up Prom Shop.

We currently rely on students' honesty to verify financial need. Each student is allowed to take home a single dress and related accessories.

Donate a dress

What clothes can I donate?

Fairy Godmother accepts donations of formal dresses, shoes, purses, jewelry and unopened cosmetics and hosiery.

Donations should be in new or almost-new condition.

We are seeking only current-style gowns Before donating, ask yourself if you would wear, or allow your daughter or best friend to wear, the item to a formal event. If the answer is “YES” then it is appropriate for donation to Fairy Godmother.

Where can I donate clothing and accessories?

You can drop off donations at any Browns Cleaners location.
